The five steps to become a Foster Parent with Eagle Quest

These are the five steps that are required to becoming a Foster Parent with Eagle Quest.

Becoming a foster parent is a life changing decision. We are happy to answer any questions and assist you through every step of the licensing process. Contacting an Eagle Quest representative to attend a free information session is the first step to become a treatment level foster parent. Information sessions provide general information and are held every Wednesday from 2-3:30pm and 6:30-8pm as well as every Saturday from 10-11:30am. Please call 800-416-KIDS (5437) or go fill out our online Foster Parent Information Request Form and we will contact you to set up a time to attend an Eagle Quest information session.

Our licensing representative will facilitate an information session, which will describe the process and steps to become an Eagle Quest foster parent as well as outline the licensing and training timeline and give an overview of home inspection guidelines. We are here to assist you through the entire process, clarify any concerns, and to answer any questions you have about becoming a treatment level foster parent.

In order to become a foster parent with Eagle Quest we require the completion of a home study with our licensing representative. During the home study process we will set up a series of four sessions to get to know you and your family. We will also help prepare you for a home safety inspection. You will be provided with the Eagle Quest policies and procedures during the home study process. The foster parent application is a lengthy document that our licensing representative will assist you with completing during the home study. A Child Abuse and Neglect check, FBI back ground check, CPR/First Aid certification, and a TB test will be required to complete the foster parent application.

Treatment level foster care requires 40 hours of initial training. Eagle Quest provides in home training that is facilitated by our Parent Support Specialist. The initial training is divided into an 8-week process. There is a combination of both interactive one on one in home training as well as modules that are done on your home computer. We provide you with the materials and require a follow up questionnaire to ensure understanding and comprehension of the training materials. In addition we require foster parents to obtain additional training hours to maintain their license throughout the year. Ongoing training is offered through the agency; however we do allow parents to participate in approved community training as well.

After you have completed steps 1-4 the final step is getting started. Once you are approved to provide foster care our licensing supervisor will contact you to advise you that you are able to accept children in your home. Once you are licensed to accept children, our placement supervisor will be notified. Our placement supervisor focuses on making the best possible match for both the youth and the foster parents; therefore each foster parent has the opportunity to interview each youth prior to placement.
